IIR-denoising patch for xawtv-sources (check http://linux.bytesex.org/xawtv/ for latest versions). This filter works good with noisy cartoons or animations. The file above is a gzipped patch to xawtv-3.88:
-
works in all YUV-Modi, RGB24, RGB32 and Gray, packed RGB not supported yet ()
-
The normalize-stuff is there, because the FIR tends to darken the image, not useful in adaptive mode
-
The YUV modus filters only the Y-channel ().
-
The adaptive mode does an edge detection. Best use for cartoons. Try a horizontal value about 80%, vertical about 50% and adaptive to 10-12.
-
For normal usage set horizontal and vertical value to 50%, adaptive off or to 2-6
